An empire across more than one lifetime
Temüjin became Genghis Khan in 1206. He died in 1227; expansion continued under his successors. Royal Armouries’ account of the family of Genghis Khan explains that sequence.
It is misleading to assign the Mongol Empire’s entire later extent to conquests completed during the founder’s lifetime. A map must have a date, and a ruler’s biography must not absorb the work of later generations.
Conquest and exchange
Accounts of the empire often move between military destruction and long-distance connections. Neither subject cancels the other. A claim about increased exchange should specify a place and period; a claim about devastation should identify the campaign and the evidence.

A specific alternative
Instead of imagining an indefinitely peaceful empire, choose one diplomatic encounter or succession decision. Identify the participants and their interests before changing an outcome.
A successful negotiation could affect one campaign without preventing every subsequent conflict. Likewise, a different successor would still face institutions, rival claimants and military commitments inherited from earlier rule.
Read a map critically
Compare a map with a dated chronology. Ask whether the map depicts direct control, claimed territory, tributary relationships or a later maximum extent. Those categories should not be treated as identical.
For a written scenario, state the year in the first sentence and explain the first consequence before predicting the distant future. This keeps an immense subject anchored in a decision the reader can actually assess.
